Photos of the Week, Plus Photo of the YEAR!

I’ve still been making photos in what little spare time I have. Lately, black and white street photography has been my thing. I like how the image of the bench has the eyes of the two faces covered, but my own eye in the reflection, plus the eyes of the cat. Also, my silhouette is in the window reflection. It’s like a disassembled portrait!

The photo of the dog is neat for a few reasons. First, yes, that’s a live dog in the shop window. Also, that dog is looking in the direction of the bar, which has a dog as a logo. Both the live dog, the logo dog, and the arrow are all facing the same direction. He’s ready for a hamburger!

Then, we have Mrs. Kane going for a stroll and giving us some Abbey Road vibes.

And finally, we have an image I took at the beginning of last year, and which I think is my favorite of 2023. This is a shot at dawn in Zuccotti Park in Downtown Manhattan, NY. I like how soft and mysterious it is, almost like a film noir.

I had a work trip to New York City last week and took a stroll over the Brooklyn Bridge before my return flight Friday morning. It was a lovely sunrise with some interesting sights!

I’m also trying my hand at telling stories through panels of three photos. Here’s a bit of a sad story I noticed while walking the bridge’s length.

Some more wildlife photos this week: The deer shots I took on a walk near my house last week. The swan was a couple months back. It actually had a nest right next to a walking trail and I had to move past it very slowly. I got hissed at a few times. And then the illusive Mr. Beaver building his dam!

And, of course, that’s my pup, Buddy,. He’s soldiering on with his arm injury!

This week, we’re playing around with the contrasts between black and white and color. Color can really draw the eye but it can also be distracting, and black and white allows you to focus more on texture and mood. These are just a few shots I took while strolling around the little village I live in last weekend.

This week, we’re time traveling back to March, when Mrs. Kane and I visited the Corning Museum of Glass. It’s absolutely amazing what these artists do and I hope you enjoy this variety of images!

Also, the photo accompanying the quote of the week was taken inside the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY.
